Things I’m loving: January 2021

Hello all, and happy 2021!

Even though I just wrote about my top fashion, beauty, and skincare favorites of 2020, I wanted to do a little roundup of some miscellaneous things I’ve been loving lately. I find it hard to do succinct monthly favorites or “what I bought” type posts because, to be frank, I get new stuff all the time. The mailman must hate me!

The comfiest sweatsuit

Nike sweats

As I’ve been working from home since the holidays due to a couple of COVID-19 scares and some cold and flu cases at my home, I’ve been living in comfy clothes once again. I find myself re-wearing this Nike sweatshirt and sweatpants non-stop. I first bought the sweatshirt back during the Nordstrom sale and fell in love with it – it’s a boxy fit with a slight crop, but nothing too short. I take a medium in this style. I then went back and ordered a pair of sweatpants to match because, as much as I love the sweatsuit trend, I haven’t been able to find any that have the look I want and Aritzia is almost always sold out of one color or size when I try and buy a matching top and bottom. These sweats are super comfy and baggier than the other sweats in my collection. I bought a small and they do run quite big – I could probably go with an extra small. They also shed A LOT before washing them, and after I washed them I ended up using a lint brush on the inside to stop any further shedding of black fluff. Now I have the perfect black sweatsuit for everyday lounging!

The BEST underwear

Parade underwear flatlay

Parade is my new go-to brand for all underwear needs. I’d been seeing the brand on Instagram for a while and finally took the plunge during a post-Christmas sale – needless to say it exceeded my expectations. The fabric is so incredibly soft and the waistbands do not dig in at all. They’re constantly releasing new colors and collections, and I need more already!

The vintage-fit denim

Madewell Denim and Everlane Denim

I’ve been looking everywhere for my perfect jeans. I love the look of Mother Denim and AGOLDE’s various cuts, but let’s be real – those brands are pricey! I love Levi’s too (and even mentioned the brand in my 2020 fashion favorites), but the fits vary so much that it can be hard to find the right size, especially since my weight has fluctuated a bit in the last year or two. I’ve finally settled on two pairs that I really, really love and highly recommend. First is the Madewell Slim Demi-Boot Jeans. I love Madewell denim and have at least three or four pairs because they just fit so well. I always wear a 26 in their denim, but would possibly size up to a 27 if a pair had no stretch. I took a 26 in these jeans and they fit perfectly. I also really love the Everlane 90’s Cheeky Straight Jean. I sized up to a 27 and they’re the perfect straight-cut fit. They also make your butt look good! The best thing about Everlane jeans is their affordable pricing – any jeans under $100 are a yes from me.

The scent of my dreams

Ariana Grande Cloud perfume

I’ve been OBSESSED with a new fragrance for the past few months, and I now realize I’ve yet to share it on Instagram or on the blog! That fragrance is Ariana Grande’s Cloud EDP. I have both the purse spray and a full size bottle. I normally would never buy a celebrity perfume, but after hearing such rave reviews about this one I had to try it! It’s a beautiful warm scent for winter, and super affordable. If you can get past the name on the bottle (and the cheesy-yet-removable cloud base on the bottle), you’ll fall in love.

The double-ended liner

Charlotte Tilbury Double Ended Eyeliners

A new product I’ve been using daily is the Charlotte Tilbury Matte & Metallic Double Ended eyeliners. I love the various color combinations these come in – there are four options catered toward different eye colors as well as a black and champagne combination for the perfect liner and highlight. I’ve been using the black and champagne one almost daily – the black gives the perfect wing or tightline, and the champagne works well on inner corners or on the waterline to help wake up the eyes. I’ve also been loving the blue combination. Even though it’s meant to make brown eyes pop, I think blue makes blue eyes pop too! The matte deep navy is a subtle enough color to wear on the lid without being an in-your-face blue, and I sometimes like to throw the more sapphire metallic shade on my waterline for a fun pop of color.

The dry skin saviors

sol de janeiro scrub and necessaire hand cream

Winter means dry skin and hands. I’ve been using The Hand Cream by Necessaire daily to keep my hands dry skin free. It’s rich while still absorbing quickly, so it lives on my bedside table for application every night before bed.

To help with dry skin on my body, I’ve been using the Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum Body Scrub. This scrub sloughs off dead skin beautifully while leaving behind nourishing oils to help stop that dry itchy skin I so often get. After getting out of the shower I’ll apply either the Bum Bum Cream or another lotion to help maintain moisture. I also recently picked up the Sol De Janeiro hair mask and have been loving that as well! The scent is so summery and comforting during the winter.

Looking forward to…

I’m looking forward to receiving my Merit Beauty order! Merit is a new clean makeup brand catered towards the minimalist or someone looking to shorten their routine. Their packaging is beautiful and the brand has been taking over my feed since their launch last week. I ordered The Minimalist (a foundation/concealer hybrid) and the Flush Balm (a cream blush).

What have you been loving lately! Let me know in the comments or message me on Instagram!
