Stuff I Bought: May 2020

As you all know, I’m a big online shopper. With nothing better to do during quarantine, I’ve definitely been doing a lot of browsing online. I thought I’d start sharing roundups of my purchases every once and a while along with short reviews of each product so you can see what I’ve gotten!

1. Gingham & pom pom mini dress

I’m obsessed with this dress. It’s by the brand Sundress and I first saw it on Revolve about a month ago. I’ve always loved gingham and I also love pom pom accents on summer dresses and cover ups. This is the perfect dress for summer parties and is also light enough to double as a cover up, too.

2. Levi’s shorts

Levi’s 501 shorts are my go-to for the summer. I thought I lost my pair of light wash shorts, so I ordered a new pair in a size above what I normally wear. I ended up finding my original ones, but I’ve decided to keep these anyways because the 27 fits much more comfortably than the 26. I love that these are high-rise (even though they say they’re mid-rise), flattering and still affordable compared to other brands like AGOLDE.

3. Solid & Striped Sculpt Stick

You probably don’t know this about me, but in the last year I’ve developed a terrible habit of picking at the skin and ingrown hairs on my legs. I’ve always wanted to try some kind of body makeup, but I wanted something that was super light coverage. This is perfect! It’s like a shimmery bronzer for your body, but can also be used on your face if you want. It’s super easy to swipe on your legs and blend out for more even, bronze, and glowing skin.

4. Wonder Under Crop Leggings

Lululemon leggings are my favorite. They’re pricey but worth it, in my opinion – they fit so well and I still have some pairs from high school. We’re still having a few chilly days here each week, and since I’ve been trying to be more active I decided to treat myself to a new pair of leggings.

5. Ebb-to-Street Tank

My favorite workout tanks are ones that have built in sports bras. It just makes it so much easier to not have to add an extra layer of fabric with your own sports bra. Plus, since I’m smaller-chested, I don’t need a ton of extra support. I have a few of Lululemon’s Power-Y tanks and I like them enough, but I decided to get the Ebb-to-Street Tank to try something new. I’ve needed a white tank for a while now.

6. NARS Oil-Infused Lip Tint

I bought the Orgasm lip tint when it was first released last year, but it seems like it may have expired already. The new Laguna collection really caught my eye, especially with the lip tint in the shade Reef. It’s a beautiful shimmery mauve color. These glosses are super comfortable to wear and feel nourishing on the lips. I debated between this and the Dior Lip Glow Oil, but the price is just better on the NARS and I already knew I liked the formula.

7. Sephora Collection Glossed Lip Gloss

I technically didn’t purchase this – it was a reward from my Rouge points. This lip gloss is amazing! It’s long lasting without being sticky, and provides a great glass shine. Plus, it’s only $10. If I somehow end up needing more lip gloss anytime soon, I’m definitely going to buy one of these. Highly recommend trying this. I received the clear shade but there are 28 colors to choose from.

8. Fenty Beauty Petal Poppin’ Cheeks Out Cream Blush

I’ve been loving this cream blush so far! I give it a 10/10 on formula, but a 5/10 on size – it’s SO much smaller than I thought it would be, and I’m not sure if it’s even half the size of the cream bronzer that was also just released. It glides on smoothly and makes the skin look so fresh and awake.

9. Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream

Tatcha’s The Dewy Skin Cream has quickly become my favorite moisturizer. It’s the first heavier cream I’ve tried that doesn’t break me out. It’s pricey, but no more expensive than Drunk Elephant’s creams. I finally splurged and got the full size.

10. Gucci Mascara L’Obscur

I’ll admit it, this was a stupid purchase. $35 for a mascara is crazy. But, I’m always on the hunt for a mascara that separates and lengthens lashes and holds a curl as well as Glossier Lash Slick does for me. This Gucci mascara’s packaging is incredible – it has a luxurious weight to it and the golden cap is so beautiful. I think mascaras take a few uses to get a full idea of your thoughts on it, but so far I’ve noticed that it does a great job of separating lashes and doesn’t clump at all. I absolutely HATE mascaras that clump (like Better Than Sex or Lash Paradise).

11. Olive & June Poppy

This thing is genius! The Olive & June Poppy is basically a handle for easier nail polish application. It works on any bottle that has an over cap (one that pulls off to reveal a smaller one underneath – most high-end brands have these). It makes for a more steady paint job. Pro tip: use a permanent marker to mark a spot where the brush faces forward, and then you’ll know where to slide the Poppy on every time.

12. Forever 21

I recently placed a Forever 21 order (for the first time in… forever) and managed to find some great stuff! I haven’t received my order yet, but I’m hoping it all fits. This dress is perfect for summer – I love the palm tree print and flattering cut. This crop top is super on-trend – mesh sleeves like these ones are everywhere right now. These camo print shorts with a pink elastic tie caught my eye – I’m hoping they’ll be good for working out. I ordered a few more things too (including some cute swimwear), all of which will be linked below!

Xo,

Meg
