As anyone who follows my Instagram (or knows me IRL) is aware, I have a thing for lip products. Lip balms, lip tints, lipsticks, and now lip glosses – my drawer is filled up to the brim with these tubes.
While mask-wearing and lip products other than clear balms don’t necessarily go hand-in-hand, I still like to slick something on every once in a while. If I’m going through the trouble to apply makeup during quarantine, you’re damn right I’m going to finish off the look with a cute lip!
I’m a big pinky nude lip lover. I haven’t quite gotten on the bright color train yet, although that’s something I hope to get comfortable with in the next few years. However, these soft colors are perfect for summer and pair beautifully with a bit of a tan.
Lipstick
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick – 70 Le Nu
This is the most gorgeous nude pink. It leans more towards the pink side while still being somewhat of a “my lips but better” color. It applies beautifully and with full color payoff in one swipe. The shades 10 (Beige Tribute) and 85 (Nu Fatal) are gorgeous as well. Check out my IG story beauty highlight to see me wearing it!
Tarte SEA Color Splash Lipstick – Rum Punch
This is the perfect nude color, but with more of a brown undertone than a pink one. I tend to shy away from ones without much pink in them, but this nude is neither too light nor too brown for my pigmented lips. It doesn’t make me look washed out either. This formula is super comfortable, non-drying and pigmented. It’s a blogger favorite, too!
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick – Pillow Talk
Pillow Talk is a cult favorite lipstick. It looks good on practically everyone, and Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution formula is one of the only non-drying matte formulas out there. I’ve loved this lipstick since the day I first tried it, and I wear it year round. Lately, I’ve been loving dabbing a bit on my lips and smudging it out, and actually using it as a blush. It blends really well on the cheeks and gives me the perfect monochrome look. The Superstar Lips formula is great if you’re looking for something a bit more hydrating and glossy.
Fenty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick
It’s not that I needed any more lipsticks, it’s just that I HAD to try this new formula from Fenty Beauty. The Slip Shine lipsticks are slightly sheer, super comfortable and glossy lipsticks. They’re perfect for no-makeup makeup days, or for wearing with a full face on. I got three shades: Makeout Break, Quartz Candy and Goji Gang. Makeout Break is a light, peachy nude, Quartz Candy is like Fenty’s Diamond Milk gloss in solid form (clear with lots of shimmer), and Goji Gang is a sheer berry tone. They are all PERFECT for summer. No matter what shade you get, it provides the most gorgeous glossy color.
Lip Liner
If I want to look a bit more put together, I’ll apply lip liner. It helps to even out the borders of my lips, and sometimes I’ll overline my lips as well.
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner – Iconic Nude & Pillow Talk
An OG favorite. Pillow Talk was the first lip liner I ever used on a regular basis. Its light pink/nude tone is perfect for pairing with most of my lipsticks, and since it’s so close to my natural lip color, it works well with just a balm or gloss on top too. I recently picked up Iconic Nude and have been loving that with more of my brown-toned shades as well.
Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil – 606 Wherever WalnutThis is a newer favorite of mine. I find that the drier texture of this pencil (when compared to CT’s Lip Cheat) makes it more precise and perfect for overlining my lips. It also lasts an incredibly long time, so long as you’re not eating or drinking too much. These pencils are great for lining the eyes, too.
Lip Gloss
As we all know, lip gloss is back and better than ever. I’ve been experimenting with a lot of different brands, but these are my favorite:
Kosas Cosmetics’ gloss is one of the most comfortable and nourishing glosses you’ll ever wear. I have the shades Jellyfish and Dip – Jellyfish is perfect for a clear shine and hydration, while Dip is more of a MLBB nude color. They are pricey for the size, but well worth it.
Patrick Ta Major Glow Lip Shine
This gloss is so, so gorgeous. Not only is the packaging literally flawless, but the formula is too. It’s non-sticky and glittery without feeling gritty whatsoever. I’m obsessed with the shade She’s Expensive.
Buxom Scoop It Up Plumping Lip Gloss SetI’ve fallen back in love with Buxom’s delightfully tingly lip gloss formula. They have the best mint scent that makes your lips tingle ever so slightly, without the pain of something like Too Faced’s plumping gloss. This set comes with two Full-On Plumping Lip Creams and two Full-On Plumping Lip Polishes. The lip creams provide more color payoff, while the polishes are more standard gloss formulas. Both formulas are incredible – I’ve been loving the lip creams for a slight tint.
Lip Balm
Huda Beauty Silk Balm Hydrating and Nourishing Lip Balm
If there’s one thing I love more than lip balm, it’s lip balm that comes with a lip gloss applicator. It’s more sanitary and better for on-the-go application. I love how juicy this makes my lips feel and look.
Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 – Shea Butter & Vitamin E
You’re (hopefully) wearing SPF on your face and body, but what about your lips? There’s nothing worse than sunburned lips, so I’ve been stashing this in my beach bag for any time I’m out in the sun. It’s super hydrating and prevents my lips from getting burned or chapped by wind.
