What I Purchased From the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Happy anniversary!

Now that public access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is in full-swing, I thought I would share what I bought from the sale, a bit about how each piece fits, and what I chose to keep vs. return. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is really shoved down our throats this time of year, but for good reason – it offers some of the best deals on fall clothing out of any store. If you want to see some of my other picks, head to my pre-sale post here!

Vince Camuto Espadrilles

First, I want to showcase the Vince Camuto Breshan espadrilles. These aren’t part of the Anniversary Sale, however, they were on sale at the time I purchased them (and still are 40% off at the time of publishing this post) so I added these to my cart with my sale pieces. I love espadrilles and platforms for summer, and these are an amazing dupe for the See by Chloe Glyn Espadrille, which cost over $100 more.

Madewell Cali Demi Boot jeans

Of the items I purchased that were a part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, the first package I received contained the espadrilles and the Madewell Cali High Waist Crop Demi Boot Jeans. These caught my eye because the fit looked similar to my favorite Levi’s 724 jeans that I wear frequently. Since I work in communications, most offices have a relatively lax dress code and I can wear jeans to work. I feel like I can never have enough black jeans, and this demi boot style adds something new to the arsenal. Unfortunately, they’re a bit longer than me than they are on the model, but they are true to Madewell denim style and are incredible comfortable. I’m keeping these, even if they don’t fit exactly the way I’d imagined.

Zella Fusion bra

In my second package came this Zella Body Fusion Sports bra. I got it in white, which is no longer available, but grey and black seem to still be well-stocked. I’ve never worn a longline sports bra OR a high neck sports bra, but I love this one. It’s super comfortable and can be worn as a crop top with high rise bottoms. The reviews said to size up, so I got a medium rather than my usual small. The medium fits me perfectly, but it is very stretchy and I’m sure I would have survived in a small. These sports bras are also 2 for $50, so if you need to replenish your collection, I highly recommend taking advantage of that offer.

BP tee

While the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is great for picking up trendy pieces, it’s also prime time for restocking your basics. One thing I struggle to find is a good long-sleeved tee. These are a must-have for me in the winter months for pairing with cardigans and vests, or even under a pullover when it’s really chilly out. I scooped up the BP. Raw Edge Pocket Tee in white because the price is just right. The fit isn’t incredible (it’s a bit more fitted than I’d like, especially on the sleeves) but at $15.90 I figured it was worth keeping. I’ll definitely be wearing it come winter.

Button front blouse

Another wardrobe staple that I picked up is the Button Front Blouse from 1.STATE. Simple blouses are so easy to throw on over skinny jeans with boots or loafers and look polished. I like the simplicity of this one, but the button front and smocked sleeve detail add a nice girly touch to the top. I chose this in black, but I’m tempted to get more colors because it fits so well (true to size) and can go with so many other pieces in my wardrobe.

Lastly, I picked up this leopard print faux fur coat by Halogen. I tried this on in-store and loved it – it’s super soft, feels warm, fits true to size (though I’d recommend sizing up if you’re between sizes or plan on wearing layers underneath) and is on trend with all of the animal print out there right now. I’ve wanted a leopard print coat since last winter, after seeing other girls look so chic pairing them with going-out clothes or simple black outfits. However, once it was delivered, I wasn’t so sure about it. I have a lot of extra jackets besides my Canada Goose, and I started to doubt how much I would wear this one. I ended up returning it, but it’s a beautiful coat if you’re on the market for something different! It also comes in black, plum, and yellow.

  1. I love those pieces! I didn’t shop the sale this time around, it looks like you made out really well. What do you think your favorite piece from this haul is?

  2. I did not purchase anything this year! You’re right that they advertise the heck out of this sale!
